Welcome to Rutland House Vets

The team would like to welcome you and thank you for visiting the Rutland House Veterinary Hospital website and for giving us the opportunity to care for your pets.

Based in St.Helens, Merseyside we have been serving the community’s pets for over 50years. We are a Veterinary Hospital offering care to patients not only locally as our Referral Service treats patients nationally

We are happy to help you locally with any queries, advice or support on veterinary services that you may require. Our fully qualified veterinary and nursing staff offer the highest level of medical and surgical skills from our Veterinary Hospital and Referral Centre in St.Helens so you can be assured that your pet will always be well cared for.

We have local branch surgeries for your convenience and late night/weekend opening times to help accommodate your busy lives.

Our appointments are for 15 minutes as standard (50% more than other vets), as we believe this provides better quality of care & understanding

Yours sincerely
The Team at Rutland House

Mission Statement

Our primary goal at Rutland House is to promote the health and well being of our client’s pets by treating them like one of our own pets.

We believe in providing the highest quality of care and will do this by developing a close relationship with our clients and patients. We will use education and preventative medicine to reduce illness. If your pet becomes ill we will support you at these difficult times. Our excellent facilities, nursing staff and experience veterinary surgeons will allow us to look after your pet’s well being in the best possible way in a safe and caring environment.

Your Pet-Our Pet.

At Rutland House and associated practices, we do not condone the use of prong or electric collars.

We therefore ask that if this is something you use, please do not bring your pet to any of our surgeries wearing one as this will lead to refusal to perform a consultation unless emergency treatment is deemed necessary.

Electric collars are banned in Wales but unfortunately are currently not prohibited in England yet. We believe these have an adverse effect on a dog’s behaviour and a negative effect on the dog’s welfare.

We are very happy to discuss behavioural referral or positive reinforcement methods of training.

  • GEMMA SMITH

The service I have received from the Exotic service at Rutland House is second to none. Molly and Athin are wonderful, and have taken really good care of my pet (and me!). They, and their team, are a real credit to Rutland House.

  • JEANETTE SMITH

The relaxed atmosphere is good and my dog loves going even though he is having treatment.

  • GILLIAN THOMPSON

I’ve been a long standing client at Rutland house in fact if almost 40 years and apart from being in holiday I will not go any where else

  • MRS JOAN MALONE

    Good helpful and pleasant staff.

  • EMMA HUGHES

I would highly recommend Rutland House, every member of staff I have encountered over different locations have been excellent and really care about the animals.

  • PLUTO PAPAVASILOPOULOS

I am one of your elderly patients – a 13 year old Basset Hound, whose Human brings me to Freckleton Road. All the Vets are as gentle as possible when poking around in my orifices. Nobody has ever made me wear a muzzle! I do try to behave well, so that they’ll give me treats. I bark at the cupboard in which they keep them, if they need reminding. The nurses and receptionists are lovely too; every Human there is friendly and respectful.

  • MR RONNY COURT

My pet was seen to quickly, advice was given and the vet was professional and friendly putting my pet at ease.

  • SARAH

Very friendly staff, making us and our cat relaxed and welcome

  • ROB GRIFFITHS

Always welcoming and always efficient and professional

Ear Cropping

Why an alarming new trend has vets saying, ‘Cut the crop!’
A recent spike in cases of illegal ear cropping points to the need for urgent action by the veterinary profession and the wider public to curb this worrying trend.
