At Rutland House and associated practices, we do not condone the use of prong or electric collars.
We therefore ask that if this is something you use, please do not bring your pet to any of our surgeries wearing one as this will lead to refusal to perform a consultation unless emergency treatment is deemed necessary.
Electric collars are banned in Wales but unfortunately are currently not prohibited in England yet. We believe these have an adverse effect on a dog's behaviour and a negative effect on the dog's welfare.
We are very happy to discuss behavioural referral or positive reinforcement methods of training.
Why an alarming new trend has vets saying, ‘Cut the crop!’
A recent spike in cases of illegal ear cropping points to the need for urgent action by the veterinary profession and the wider public to curb this worrying trend.
